This project removes dangerous hazardous fuels on private property, focusing on roadsides and within 100 feet of homes to create defensible space. This important work makes our community more safe by creating safe ingress/egress and protecting residents.
The next portion of this project will focus on completing Home Risk Assessments for homeowners. Homeowners can learn how to harden their homes against catastrophic wildfire, register water sources with the Blue Dot Program, and get address signs that will aid emergency services.
This multi-year project was designed and is being implemented in partnership with Humboldt County Resource Conservation District, Trinity County Resource Conservation District, Willow Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and Lower Trinity Prescribed Burn Association.
